Yaʿqūb عليه السلام
يعقوب
Father of Yūsuf. Lost him to his brothers' deception and wept until his sight went, saying he complained of his grief to Allah alone. His sight returned when word of his son came.
What he faced
Grief carried without complaint to anyone but Allah.

قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَشْكُوا۟ بَثِّى وَحُزْنِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
ʾinnamā ʾashkū baththī wa-ḥuznī ʾilā al-lahi wa-ʾaʿlamu mina al-lahi mā lā taʿlamūna
English · Marmaduke Pickthall He said: I expose my distress and anguish only unto Allah, and I know from Allah that which ye know not.
Türkçe · Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır Dedi ki: "Ben hüznümü, kederimi ancak Allah'a şikayet ederim ve Allah tarafından sizin bilmediğiniz şeyleri de bilirim."

وَجَآءُو عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِۦ بِدَمٍۢ كَذِبٍۢ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًۭا فَصَبْرٌۭ جَمِيلٌۭ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ
Fa-ṣabrun jamīlun wa-al-lahu al-mustaʿānu ʿalā mā taṣifūna
English · Marmaduke Pickthall And they came with false blood on his shirt. He said: Nay, but your minds have beguiled you into something. (My course is) comely patience. And Allah it is Whose help is to be sought in that (predicament) which ye describe.
Türkçe · Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır Bir de gömleğinin üzerinde yalandan bir kan getirmişlerdi. Babaları dedi ki: "Hayır, nefisleriniz aldatmış da size bir iş yaptırtmış. Artık bana güzel bir sabır gerekiyor. Bu anlattıklarınıza karşılık yardımına sığınılacak olan ancak Allah'dır."
