The final Prophet, to whom the Qurʾān was revealed over twenty-three years. Orphaned young, driven from Mecca, and returned to it.

What he faced

Losing, in a single year, both the wife who believed him first and the uncle who protected him.

فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۥ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًۭا

Rabbi zidnī ʿilman

English · Marmaduke Pickthall Then exalted be Allah, the True King! And hasten not (O Muhammad) with the Qur'an ere its revelation hath been perfected unto thee, and say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَدْخِلْنِى مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍۢ وَأَخْرِجْنِى مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍۢ وَٱجْعَل لِّى مِن لَّدُنكَ سُلْطَٰنًۭا نَّصِيرًۭا

Rabbi ʾadkhilnī mudkhala ṣidqin wa-ʾakhrijnī mukhraja ṣidqin wajʿal lī min ladunka sulṭānan naṣīran

English · Marmaduke Pickthall And say: My Lord! Cause me to come in with a firm incoming and to go out with a firm outgoing. And give me from Thy presence a sustaining Power.

Rabbi ighfir warḥam wa-ʾanta khayru ar-rāḥimīna

English · Marmaduke Pickthall And (O Muhammad) say: My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for Thou art Best of all who show mercy.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Al-lahumma ʾinnī ẓalamtu nafsī ẓulman kathīran wa-lā yaghfiru adh-dhunūba ʾillā ʾanta fa-ghfir lī maghfiratan min ʿindika wa-rḥamnī ʾinnaka ʾanta al-ghafūru ar-raḥīmu

In Sahih al-Bukhari (834), the Prophet ﷺ taught Abu Bakr to say this in prayer when seeking forgiveness and mercy.

Al-lahumma ʾinnī ʾaʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi jahannama wa-min ʿadhābi al-qabri wa-min fitnati al-maḥyā wa-al-mamāti wa-min sharri fitnati al-masīḥi ad-dajjāli

6 Set right my religion, my world, my end

In Sahih Muslim (2720), it is reported that the Prophet ﷺ would supplicate for rectification of religion, worldly life, and the Hereafter.

7 Guidance, piety, chastity, sufficiency
